BRIAN ENO: SMALL CRAFT ON A MILK SEA

Small Craft On A Milk Sea is the latest fulfillment of one of Eno's long-running concepts: creating musical landscapes or soundtracks for unmade movies. It starts out tranquil and ambient, qualities found in many of Eno's all-instrumental solo efforts. But soon it turns tribal and frenetic, then ominously dissonant. Finally, a shift back to calm with floating waves of sound - time for contemplation, meditation or a nice nap. Small Craft On A Milk Sea is an improvisational work done primarily with guitarist Leo Abrahams and keyboardist Jon Hopkins. Eno (on computers) weaves together a sound that is simultaneously compelling and (intentionally) easy to ignore. It's background music of the highest quality. Download: Written, Forgotten.
