DAMON ALBARN, BRIAN ENO TO FEATURE ON TERRY RILEY HOMAGE

Africa Express release forthcoming...

A project uniting musicians from Africa and the Western world, Africa Express recently pulled together some big names for its next project.

Damon Albarn, Brian Eno, Nick Zinner and more are set to appear on a new release, paying homage to Terry Riley's masterpiece In C.

Toasting its fiftieth anniversary, the ad hoc collective will release Africa Express Presents... Terry Riley's In C Mali on January 26 via Transgressive.

Africa Express performed In C at London's Turbine Hall earlier this year, with a full feature film set to launch on November 27.

Terry Riley was clearly over-joyed when told of the project: "I am overwhelmed and delighted by this CD. I was not quite prepared for such an incredible journey, hearing the soul of Africa in joyous flight over those fifty-three patterns of In C. This ensemble feeds the piece with ancient threads of musical wisdom and humanity indicating to me that this work is a vessel ready to receive and be shaped by the spontaneous feelings and colours of the magician/musician. I could not ask for a greater gift for this daughter's fiftieth birthday."
