SMALL CRAFT ON A MILK SEA PROVES WHY BRIAN ENO REMAINS REVERED

The enticingly enigmatic Brian Eno remains relevant with Small Craft On A Milk Sea.

The enticingly enigmatic, other-worldly innovations of Brian Eno have found a natural home on the Warp label - in fact, the real mystery is why this creative hook-up hasn't happened before now.

Small Craft On A Milk Sea is billed as Eno's first solo album for five years, although it actually features collaborations with composer/musicians Jon Hopkins and Leo Abrahams; he also cites his inspiration as 1970s film scores by the likes of Italian maestro Nino Rota.

The resulting electro-ambient collection is both sharply intellectual and richly emotional, fluid yet memorably melodic, with delicate piano and guitars and some strident, clubby beats.

This music simply proves why Eno remains both revered and relevant - come on in, the sine waves are lovely.
