THE LIFE OF BRIONI
FERRY AND ENO PARTY ITALIAN-STYLE
To mark the release of Brioni's new limited-edition fragrance, Bryan Ferry did double duty for the brand-anchoring a lunchtime event in the company's Bruton Street store and then co-hosting (with Brioni scion Andrea Perrone) a dinner at Annabel's. The match of music's most stylish man and Italy's finest suitmaker attracted an appropriately chic crowd of pop aristos (John Taylor and Gela Nash-Taylor), art world titans (Larry Gagosian, Peter Brant, Ed Ruscha, Lucian Freud), and fashion legends (Antony Price). Ferry's still got that mojo working. Perrone's cousin Antonella de Simone was positively girlish when they met. And the fact that it was the singer's personal invitation also guaranteed a dark-horse appearance from Ferry's old Roxy Music sparring partner Brian Eno. "I thought I was coming to an intimate dinner for people called Brian," he said. He wasn't the only guest who'd put his own spin on Brioni. Ardent Eno fan Dinos Chapman misheard "a Brioni dinner" as "a Brian Eno dinner." "How fortunate I was here," Eno laughed when they were introduced.
