ENO GETS LUMINOUS

Legendary British musician and producer Brian Eno was announced yesterday as curator of the Sydney Opera House's inaugural Luminous festival, to be held from May 26 to June 14.

Eno has enlisted artists including Ladytron, Battles, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Reggie Watts, John Hopkins and Jon Hassell for the three-week festival of music, light installations, performance and talks.

He will present a finale concert with Underworld's Karl Hyde, Pure Scenius, as well as his own Venice Biennale visual and sound installation, 77 Million Paintings at the Opera House Studio.

Luminous will form part of Vivid Sydney, a broader festival created by Events NSW.

This will be the first visit to Australia for Eno, a founding member of Roxy Music, leading figure in ambient music and producer of artists including U2, David Bowie, David Byrne and Coldplay.

Tickets on sale from tomorrow.
