BRIAN ENO: DISCREET MUSIC / MUSIC FOR FILMS / MUSIC FOR AIRPORTS / ON LAND

Brian Eno has released a new collection of vinyl reissues

In 1975 Brian Eno was laid up in a hospital bed after a car accident, listening to an album of harp music he couldn't turn the volume up on. It mingled with the sound of the rain outside, resulting in his idea to approach music as something to blend in with and complement the environment; a creative answer to what was previously written off as Muzak.

While the second side of Discreet Music, arranged by the composer Gavin Bryars, sounds like modern classical, by Music For Airports in 1978 Eno was creating mood pieces that inspire in the listener a sense of weightless reflection.

For that person in your life needing a bit of calm and solace on Christmas Day, these vinyl reissues will make the ideal present.
