ROXY MUSIC REUNITE WITHOUT THE VOICE

Phil Manzanera has reunited with former Roxy Music members Brian Eno, Andy Mackay and Paul Thompson for his new solo album 6PM but lead singer Bryan Ferry was not part of the session.

Ferry toured with Roxy Music in 2001 but Brian Eno wasn't part of the band. Eno was part of the original Roxy Music but left in 1973 after the For Your Pleasure album following a personality clash with Ferry. After Roxy Music, he developed the sound of Low and "Heroes" for David Bowie, gave U2 their unique sound for The Unforgettable Fire and The Joshua Tree and worked with Elvis Costello, Icehouse and Talking Heads, to name a few.

Manzanera has played down the reunion stating that it is really just his close, personal friends playing with him on the album. In addition to his Roxy Music mates, Chrissie Hynde, Dave Gilmour and Robert Wyatt also play on the album.

The relevance of the title 6PM is that it is Phil Manzanera's sixth solo album. 6PM is my sixth solo album with a direct link to my first, Diamond Head (1975) he says at his website. A lot of the same people play on it and the inspiration seems to come from 60's London, specifically from 1967 onwards when my South American adventures came to an end and London became my world. My musical influences come from that period. The meeting of Robert Wyatt and Dave Gilmour, when I was 17, informed my musical taste, as did the influence from the Maccormick brothers.

The album was recorded at Phil's Gallery Studios in London. It will be released on July 19 on Hannibal Records.
