BRIAN ENO: CURIOSITIES VOLUME 1

First in a series of "Unreleased, unfinished and unrealistic tracks."

Eno's previous 'official' album was 2001's Drawn From Life with J. Peter Schwalm, but he's produced a myriad internet-only ambient and installation CDs in recent years. Far from being off-cuts, Curiosities is full of strange offerings, pieces from abandoned projects - like 11 Things To Do On A Dull Afternoon. It's a revealing insight into Eno's work because many tracks are so untypical. The hissing syncopations and distant synth melodies of Select A Bonk sound like an updating of early '90s Warp Records, while Work/Wank (Brian, please!) finds a slowed down voice chanting over primitive acoustic guitars. Although these themes didn't cohere into fulI CDs, they sound just fine sitting side by side in this aural scrapbook.
