JON HASSELL/BRIAN ENO - FOURTH WORLD VOLUME 1: POSSIBLE MUSICS
This 1980 classic by Jon Hassell and Brian Eno has been re-released by Glitterbeat. In its time, it was a breakthrough in experimental world music and ambient electronica. Hassell studied classical music and applied Indian vocal techniques to his trumpet playing. Hassell and Eno use digital delay, echo and electronic effects in their musical treatments. Handclaps serve as percussion on one track, Griot, recorded in an art gallery, and the trumpet soars with a high drone, providing a sense of strangeness. Fascinating.
