FORGET THE CHARTS, ADELE TOPS KARAOKE TOO

Just how popular is Adele becoming? A new survey by a market research group in Britain has found that two songs recorded by the singer accounted for more than a third of all karaoke performances there in 2011. Leading the list, not surprisingly, was Someone Like You, a hit single from the CD 21, which was chosen by one in four karaoke singers and is also up for a Grammy next month in the best pop performance category. In second place, with ten percent of the three million total performances tabulated, was her cover version of Bob Dylan's Make You Feel My Love, a track from her debut CD, 19. The top non-Adele karaoke song was "Heroes", a track written by David Bowie and Brian Eno in the 1970s that enjoyed a resurgence of popularity after it was featured on the television program The X Factor.
