UNDERWORLD VS MISTERONS: ATHENS
"Born Slippery" boys' jazzy mix, a little on the polite side.
Underworld have always been the most progressive of dance acts, so it's not such a surprise to find them repping for the likes of Soft Machine and Mahavishnu Orchestra on this supremely tasteful mix. Even techno renegades such as Squarepusher and Moodymann are on their best supper club behaviour here. It's hard to fault many of the selections, but in the age of Spotify, a compilation CD needs something more than a discerning track-list to make it worth buying; the one exclusive track, a rather hectic, burbling face-off between Underworld's Karl Hyde and Brian Eno, isn't really enough.
